In the winter of 2022, I went to Granada, Spain for seven months. It was my first time living abroad — an experience I had sought for a long time. With my camera in hand, I set off every day to get to know life around me. I was often drawn out by the strong midday sun, when the city was at its brightest but also at its quietest. Seeking a shady spot to rest, I encountered locals doing the same, while others were already at home having lunch. During this time, restaurants would close for a two-hour break, preparing for the early evening. Siesta.

Behind closed shutters of the restaurants, preparations were underway. Meanwhile, people would suddenly emerge from their retreats, and the city would fill with life. The rhythm here is different: as soon as the siesta ends, the fiesta begins.
